The peptide was first described in the early 1990s by a group studying gastric secretions and tissue repair. Its fifteen-residue chain is usually written as GEPPPGKPADDAGLV in single-letter code. The free peptide has the formula C62H98N16O22 and a theoretical mass near 1419.5 daltons. These identifiers are established chemical facts that can be checked against standard peptide databases. There is no ambiguity about the primary structure.
Most published findings come from rodent experiments using induced injury or surgical models. Human reports remain scarce and are largely observational, which limits how much can be stated with confidence. Questions about absorption, distribution, metabolism, and clearance in people are still open. Dose translation between species is likewise unresolved. Researchers tend to read the animal literature as a starting point rather than a settled account.
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide composed of fifteen amino acids. Its sequence corresponds to part of a protein found in human gastric juice, which is the origin of the "body protection compound" label. In laboratory work the material is treated as a defined research chemical rather than a finished product. Published research has centered on animal models, and the peptide is not an approved medicine in most countries.
Interest in the peptide has grown through online communities that discuss self-administered use, which sits outside formal research settings. Regulatory status varies by country, and in many jurisdictions the compound is not approved as a therapeutic product. Questions about optimal routes of administration, long-term effects, and dose-response relationships remain open. Published pharmacokinetic data in humans are limited, and much of what circulates in popular discussion is extrapolated from animal work rather than measured directly in people.
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide built from fifteen amino acids, referred to in the literature as a pentadecapeptide. Its sequence was derived from a larger protein found in human gastric juice, commonly called body protection compound. Researchers first described the fragment in the early 1990s and named it after the parent protein plus a numeric identifier. The peptide does not correspond to a single marketed medicine; it is primarily a laboratory research material. Suppliers distribute it as a lyophilized powder intended for experimental use.
Published work on BPC-157 spans several decades and covers a wide range of experimental models. Much of the early literature reports outcomes in animal studies involving induced injury to the gastrointestinal tract, tendons, and other tissues. The volume of preclinical reports is large, while controlled human trials remain scarce. This imbalance is a recurring point of discussion, because animal findings do not automatically translate into human effects. Reviews often note that study designs differ substantially across laboratories.

Most published findings come from rodent models, where the peptide has been examined in wound-healing, gastrointestinal-lesion, tendon, and vascular-injury preparations. A smaller number of early human studies have been reported, chiefly in inflammatory bowel conditions, but the public record is short and has not led to marketing approval in the United States or the European Union. Reviewers therefore classify the compound as investigational, and whether animal results carry over to people remains an open question rather than a settled one.
Outside laboratory supply channels, the peptide is sold as a research chemical, a category that carries no requirement to demonstrate purity, identity, or freedom from contamination. Because it is not an approved medicine, products labeled BPC-157 sit in a regulatory gap in many countries, and actual content may differ from the label. Sports organizations list it among prohibited substances, so its presence in an athlete's sample can produce a doping finding regardless of how the material was obtained.
BPC-157 is a synthetic fifteen-amino-acid peptide whose sequence is GEPPPGKPADDAGLV. Its name derives from the phrase body protection compound, a term applied to a protein fraction originally detected in human gastric juice. The short peptide is not that full protein; it corresponds to a stable fragment of the larger molecule. Researchers frequently describe it as a pentadecapeptide because it contains exactly fifteen residues. Its neutral molecular mass is approximately 1419 daltons.
The sequence places several glycine and proline residues near the middle, which may influence how the chain folds in solution. The peptide is linear rather than cyclic, and it carries no disulfide bridges. Commercial material is commonly supplied as the acetate salt, although the free base and other counterion forms also appear. Because the term BPC-157 refers to a specific sequence, samples with slight sequence variants are chemically different substances. Published work generally treats the fifteen-residue sequence as the defining structure.
The molecule carries 15 residues, a molar mass near 1419.5 g/mol, and the formula C62H98N16O22. Its structure features a proline-rich central region, a pair of adjacent aspartic acid residues, and no cysteine. The absence of cysteine means no disulfide bonds can form, which simplifies refolding and reconstitution. Suppliers usually ship the material as a freeze-dried powder that appears white to off-white. It dissolves readily in water and in saline solutions.
Published storage guidance follows general peptide practice rather than product-specific studies. The dry powder is typically kept at minus 20 degrees Celsius, away from light and moisture. Once reconstituted, solutions are generally refrigerated and used over days to weeks, because the aqueous environment slowly promotes hydrolysis and oxidation. Long-term data on degradation rates or breakdown products are sparse. Stated shelf lives from different producers vary widely, reflecting the absence of a shared reference standard.
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide built from fifteen amino acid residues. Its sequence comes from a larger protein fragment that researchers isolated from human gastric juice and described as a body protection compound. The fragment contains glycine, glutamic acid, five prolines, lysine, alanine, two aspartic acids, leucine, and valine. The number 157 in the name refers to the position of the stretch within the parent protein. Material used in laboratories is manufactured rather than extracted from stomach fluid.
Carnexiv is indicated for short-term treatment of up to seven days for partial seizures with complex symptomatology, generalized tonic–clonic seizures and mixed seizure patterns, in patients who are temporarily unable to take or tolerate oral medications. It has also been shown to improve symptoms of "typewriter tinnitus", a type of tinnitus caused by the neurovascular compression of the cochleovestibular nerve.
Leaning heavily into European free improvisation and avant-garde classical structures, the line-up eventually stripped down to a core trio of Fripp, Bruford, and Wetton, producing the highly acclaimed studio albums Larks' Tongues in Aspic (1973), Starless and Bible Black (1974), and Red (1974), before Fripp temporarily disbanded the group. King Crimson returned from a seven-year hiatus in 1981 with a revamped, transatlantic line-up featuring Fripp, Bruford, and American musicians Adrian Belew and Tony Levin. Incorporating elements of New York minimalism, gamelan, and contemporary new wave, this iteration recorded a distinct trilogy of studio albums: Discipline (1981), Beat (1982), and Three of a Perfect Pair (1984). After another decade-long dormancy, the band reconstituted in 1994 as a "Double Trio" sextet, adding Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn to release Thrak (1995). During the late 1990s, the band members also operated in smaller, improvised sub-groups known as "ProjeKcts". The main group continued into the early 2000s as a quartet, releasing The ConstruKction of Light (2000) and The Power to Believe (2003), which showcased a heavier, industrial-influenced sound. Following a brief 40th-anniversary tour in 2008 that introduced drummer Gavin Harrison, Fripp placed the group on hold until 2013. King Crimson then re-emerged as a highly structured touring septet (and later octet) featuring an unusual three-drummer frontline and lead vocalist Jakko Jakszyk.

== Safety == Lime sulfur reacts with strong acids (including stomach acid) to produce highly toxic hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg gas) and usually has a distinct "rotten egg" odor. Lime sulfur is not flammable, but it can release highly irritating sulfur dioxide gas in a fire. Safety goggles and impervious gloves should be worn when handling lime sulfur. Lime sulfur solutions are strongly alkaline (typical commercial concentrates have a pH over 11.5 because of the presence of dissolved sulfides and hydroxide anions) and are harmful to living organisms and can cause blindness if splashed in the eyes. The corrosive nature of lime sulfur is due to the reduced sulfur species it contains, in particular sulfides responsible for stress corrosion cracking and the thiosulfates that cause pitting corrosion. Localized corrosion by the reduced sulfur species can be significant; even the mere presence of elemental sulfur in contact with metals is enough to corrode them considerably, including so-called stainless steels.
In the final stage of elongation, called translocation, the deacylated tRNA (in the P site) and the dipeptidyl-tRNA (in the A site) along with its corresponding codons move to the E and P sites, respectively, and a new codon moves into the A site. This process is catalyzed by elongation factor G (EF-G). The deacylated tRNA at the E site is released from the ribosome during the next A-site occupation by an aminoacyl-tRNA again facilitated by EF-Tu. The ribosome continues to translate the remaining codons on the mRNA as more aminoacyl-tRNA bind to the A site, until the ribosome reaches a stop codon on mRNA(UAA, UGA, or UAG). The translation machinery works relatively slowly compared to the enzyme systems that catalyze DNA replication. Proteins in bacteria are synthesized at a rate of only 18 amino acid residues per second, whereas bacterial replisomes synthesize DNA at a rate of 1000 nucleotides per second. This difference in rate reflects, in part, the difference between polymerizing four types of nucleotides to make nucleic acids and polymerizing 20 types of amino acids to make proteins. Testing and rejecting incorrect aminoacyl-tRNA molecules takes time and slows protein synthesis. In bacteria, translation initiation occurs as soon as the 5' end of an mRNA is synthesized, and translation and transcription are coupled. This is not possible in eukaryotes because transcription and translation are carried out in separate compartments of the cell (the nucleus and cytoplasm).

Pseudomonas fluorescens is a common Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium. It belongs to the Pseudomonas genus; 16S rRNA analysis as well as phylogenomic analysis has placed P. fluorescens in the P. fluorescens group within the genus, to which it lends its name.
=== Laboratory synthesis === Formaldehyde was discovered in 1859 by the Russian chemist Aleksandr Butlerov (1828–1886) when he tried to synthesize methanediol ("methylene glycol") from iodomethane and silver oxalate. In his paper, Butlerov called formaldehyde "dioxymethylen" (methylene dioxide) because his empirical formula for it was incorrect, as atomic weights were not precisely determined until the Karlsruhe Congress. August Wilhelm von Hofmann first identified the compound as an aldehyde. He announced its production by passing methanol vapor in air over hot platinum wire. With modifications, Hofmann's method remains the basis of the modern industrial route. Solution routes to formaldehyde also entail oxidation of methanol or iodomethane.
In 2012, government again replaced it with the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012 In terms of section 2, "Money Laundering means – (i) knowingly moving, converting, or transferring proceeds of crime or property involved in an offence for the following purposes:- (1) concealing or disguising the illicit nature, source, location, ownership or control of the proceeds of crime; or (2) assisting any person involved in the commission of the predicate offence to evade the legal consequences of such offence; (ii) smuggling money or property earned through legal or illegal means to a foreign country; (iii) knowingly transferring or remitting the proceeds of crime to a foreign country or remitting or bringing them into Bangladesh from a foreign country with the intention of hiding or disguising its illegal source; or (iv) concluding or attempting to conclude financial transactions in such a manner so as to reporting requirement under this Act may be avoided;(v) converting or moving or transferring property with the intention to instigate or assist for committing a predicate offence; (vi) acquiring, possessing or using any property, knowing that such property is the proceeds of a predicate offence; (vii) performing such activities so as to the illegal source of the proceeds of crime may be concealed or disguised; (viii) participating in, associating with, conspiring, attempting, abetting, instigate or counsel to commit any offences mentioned above." To prevent these Illegal uses of money, the Bangladesh government has introduced the Money Laundering Prevention Act.

== Plot summary == Anathem is set on the fictional planet of Arbre. Thousands of years before the events in the novel, the planet's intellectuals entered concents (monastic communities) to protect their activities from the collapse of society. The avout (intellectuals separated from Sæcular society) are banned from possessing or operating most advanced technology and are supervised by the Inquisition, which answers to the outside world. The avout are normally allowed to communicate with people outside the walls of the concent only once every year, decade, century, or millennium, depending on the particular vows they have taken. The narrator and protagonist, Fraa Erasmas, is an avout at the Concent of Saunt Edhar. His teacher, Fraa Orolo, discovers that an alien spacecraft is orbiting Arbre – a fact that the world government (Sæcular Power) attempts to cover up. Erasmas becomes aware of Orolo's discovery after Orolo is banished (in a rite called Anathem) from the concent for using a video camera (a forbidden technology) to observe the ship. The presence of the alien ship soon becomes an open secret among many of the avout at Saunt Edhar. The alien ship eventually declares its presence by shining a laser upon several Millenarian Maths (the bastions of those avout who have taken a thousand-year vow of isolation). Shortly after that, the Sæcular Power summons many avout from Saunt Edhar, including Erasmas and a Millenarian named Fraa Jad. The avout are told to travel to the concent of Saunt Tredegarh to attend a Convox (a joint conference of the avout and the Sæcular Power).
Nutty Professor II: The Klumps is a 2000 American science fiction comedy film directed by Peter Segal and starring Eddie Murphy and Janet Jackson. It is the sequel to the 1996 film The Nutty Professor. In contrast to the previous film, subplots centered on the parents of protagonist Sherman Klump occupy a substantial part of the film. Nutty Professor II: The Klumps was released by Universal Pictures on July 28, 2000. Unlike its predecessor, the film received generally negative reviews and grossed $166.3 million.
===== Electrode ===== In 2010, researchers first reported creating a graphene-silicon heterojunction solar cell, where graphene served as a transparent electrode and introduced a built-in electric field near the interface between the graphene and n-type silicon to help collect charge carriers. In 2012 researchers reported efficiency of 8.6% for a prototype consisting of a silicon wafer coated with trifluoromethanesulfonyl-amide (TFSA) doped graphene. Doping increased efficiency to 9.6% in 2013. In 2015 researchers reported efficiency of 15.6% by choosing the optimal oxide thickness on the silicon. This combination of carbon materials with traditional silicon semiconductors to fabricate solar cells has been a promising field of carbon science. In 2013, another team reported 15.6% percent by combining titanium oxide and graphene as a charge collector and perovskite as a sunlight absorber. The device is manufacturable at temperatures under 150 °C (302 °F) using solution-based deposition. This lowers production costs and offers the potential using flexible plastics. In 2015, researchers developed a prototype cell that used semitransparent perovskite with graphene electrodes. The design allowed light to be absorbed from both sides. It offered efficiency of around 12 percent with estimated production costs of less than $0.06/watt. The graphene was coated with PEDOT:PSS conductive polymer (polythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate). Multilayering graphene via CVD created transparent electrodes reducing sheet resistance.

The peptide is synthetic, but its sequence matches a segment of a protein present in human gastric juice. It does not occur as a free fifteen-residue peptide in the body.
Rodents account for the large majority of published experiments. Human data are sparse and mostly observational, so cross-species extrapolation remains uncertain.
It is not an approved therapeutic in most jurisdictions. Regulatory status varies by country, and several places restrict it as a research chemical.
